Voice and message worksheet

Use these prompts before your interview. Keep your answers in your own notes or paste relevant details into your book interview.

  1. Who is your reader, and what do you want them to understand? Write one plain sentence.
  2. List three phrases you naturally use when explaining this message to a friend.
  3. Name the experiences you can truthfully share. Mark details you still need to confirm.
  4. Choose the tone: conversational, reflective, instructional, or another voice you can describe.
  5. List claims you do not want the book to make, and details you want to keep private.

Fact and Scripture review checklist

AI flags help you notice questions. They do not replace your judgment or a trusted human review.

  1. Check names, dates, quotations, statistics, and sources against the originals.
  2. Confirm that every personal experience actually happened as described. Remove invented dialogue and details.
  3. Read every Scripture passage in context. Check references, quotation accuracy, translation attribution, and permissions.
  4. Ask a trusted pastor or qualified reader about doctrinal claims you cannot resolve yourself.
  5. Resolve every [AUTHOR], [VERIFY REFERENCE], and [DOCTRINE REVIEW] note before publication.

Chapter completion checklist

Use this after you read each draft and before you mark it approved.

  1. Does the chapter deliver the purpose you approved in the outline?
  2. Read a paragraph aloud. Change words you would not say, and remove repetition.
  3. Supply missing examples from your own knowledge and experience.
  4. Check the opening, transitions, ending, and connection to the next chapter.
  5. Save your edits, review the saved version, and keep an export or backup at meaningful milestones.

Publishing handoff checklist

Author includes publishing-file exports. Publishing Suite adds planning and packaging tools. Uploading, proofing, and publication still need your attention.

  1. Complete factual, Scripture, editorial, and permissions reviews.
  2. Export the latest manuscript, interior, EPUB, and cover assets appropriate to your publishing workflow.
  3. Check the actual files in your chosen platform’s previewer. Review trim size, margins, contents, images, and cover dimensions.
  4. Confirm your author details, description, categories, keywords, rights, territory, and pricing.
  5. Review ISBN requirements, platform fees, printing charges, and distribution choices with the provider.
  6. Order and review a proof if appropriate, correct issues, then submit for publication yourself or under your agreed service scope.
